Katherine provides nothing less than top quality, professional and high-end live music performances for all weddings, corporate functions and private events.

Private Music tuition

Singing - all levels and contemporary styles
Piano - beginners level only

Katherine Curnow has been singing since she was a toddler and vocally trained from age nine in both classical and contemporary styles and studied Contemporary Music (Voice) at the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

Katherine maintained a heavy performance and teaching schedule in Perth, prior to moving to London in 2011, including performing at The Ellington Jazz Club, Suited and Terrace events and various private functions and special events. Whilst in London, she performed as a backing vocalist at Bush Hall, The Troubadour and Bloomsbury Ballroom for fellow Australian singer/songwriter Kirsty Keogh, as well as playing in her acoustic duo at various venues and events around London.

From 2010 to late 2011/early 2012 Katherine took a hiatus from singing due to developing Muscular Tension Dysphonia through recieving poor instruction and teaching and through her experience with this vocal problem, and after learning from and working with the best team of  voice professionals in the UK, is now primarily focused and passionate about establishing and maintaining correct vocal technique with all her students. Her lessons comprise of technical knowledge of mechanisms of the voice, basic music theory, performance and stage presence and business mentorship.

She is able to teach all contemporary vocal styles and specialises in soul, R&B and pop.

She has experience in private one-on-one tuition from the ages of six to 48, has taught in music schools, has experience in teaching small groups and developed a choir programme.

All lessons are catered towards the individual, designed to meet the needs, level and goals for each student.

All lessons are based in Perth, WA, however, Skype lessons are also available (for singing only).

Elite voice users: Vocal health coaching

Designed specifically for professionals working in fields where they are required to use their voice at an elite level and on a regular basis. This includes but is not limited to public speakers, teachers and professionals delivering workshops and masterclasses.

A focus on learning about the mechanisms of the vocal cords, developing and maintaining correct speech level vocal technique, overcoming stage fright and advice on vocal hygiene to ensure you get the most out of your voice without discomfort, pain and/or excessive fatigue.

Business mentoring

Drawing from her background in PR & journalism and years working in the corporate world, Katherine will assist in offering advice and coaching on the business aspect of the music industry, including but not limited to:

  • Admin tasks - invoices, email and phone etiquette
  • Promotion - material content (both written and visual), styling, basic media training
  • How to get gigs - approaching and liaising with clients, networking skills
  • Professional resources - recommendations on tax accountants, lawyers, further mentorship
